AAR medical teams are continuing to provide medical care for unreached groups in the hardest-hit areas of Miyagi Prefecture.

An Association of Medical Doctors of Asia (AMDA) team in Otsuchi reported that they have handed over most of the medical examination work to others at this stage and are concentrating on providing Eastern medical treatments and on recovery efforts. AMDA staff attended a moving commencement ceremony at Otsuchi High School to mark the start of the school year, where the sight of the brave students listening to their principal’s words about sympathy and compassion brought tears to their eyes. One of the school’s two gyms is still home to about 270 evacuees. Simple dividers have been set up, complete with nameplates, to give the residents some sense of privacy.
